Business Development Manager (Commission-Only)
Location: UK-wide (Remote/SE London office)
Contract: Self-Employed

We’re hiring two entrepreneurial, entry–mid level BDMs on a self-employed 100% commission-only basis—ideal for anyone launching a career in finance or current sector professionals seeking the flexibility to take on extra activities and boost their earnings. Success here is driven entirely by your activity levels and deal flow, so if you’re self-motivated and hungry to earn uncapped commissions, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You’ll Do
- Prospect and qualify new introducers (accountants, solicitors, financial advisors, property investors) and end-clients in the property and general SME space
- Conduct initial deal structuring and prepare proposals to hand off to the MD for pricing, credit and lender negotiation
- Serve as the main point of contact for client and MD/lender communications—co-ordinating information, documentation and next steps
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities through call-days, events, networking, digital outreach and working with our BES colleagues
- Keep abreast of market trends, product updates and regulatory changes to sharpen your conversations
- Represent Ascend at industry meetups, seminars and regional networking events

What You’ll Bring
- A broad understanding of financial products and how they work (full product and sourcing training provided)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable forging new relationships over phone, video and in person
- Self-motivated attitude: you thrive on targets, time management and driving your own pipeline
- General grasp of financial statements preferred, but not essential—we’ll upskill you on any knowledge gaps
- Willingness to travel regionally for meetings and events (driving licence/car preferred but not mandatory)
- Tech-savvy: able to use CRM tools, virtual meeting platforms and basic office software
