Business Development Manager - Lighting
Role: Business Development Manager-Lighting Hours: Full-time Location: Birmingham

We're looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Lighting Projects team, supporting the delivery of integrated FM services where energy and carbon reduction are key in achieving clients' net zero objectives. Mitie is seeing tremendous growth in developing and delivering integrated FM services, particularly in decarbonisation through lighting and lighting controls. This role sits within our Energy and Decarbonisation Project Team, working with both new and existing customers to develop opportunities and support business growth objectives. This is an external, client-facing role, engaging with senior stakeholders including C-suite executives, directors, and heads of functions such as Engineering, Procurement, Property, Sustainability, Energy Management, and Programme Management, as well as key suppliers and technology developers.

Role Responsibilities Build and maintain a visible sales pipeline to achieve agreed financial targets, managing opportunities from initial contact through to project completion Identify, develop, and pursue new lighting and energy-saving opportunities across commercial, industrial, PFI, education, healthcare, public sector, logistics, leisure, and hospitality sectors Maximise new business opportunities and lead negotiations to secure profitable contracts, supporting clients on their journey to net zero Organise and attend site surveys, and develop detailed quotes and proposals aligned with client requirements Oversee the full bid process, including PQQs and ITTs, ensuring submissions are accurate, competitive, and demonstrate strong understanding of methodologies and project timelines Lead bid/no-bid decisions, bid submissions, client presentations, and negotiations to successfully win work Use Salesforce CRM to manage and track opportunities from creation through to closure, ensuring accurate reporting and forecasting

Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years' experience within the lighting or electrical industry Strong understanding of lighting services, solutions, and related products Experience in turnkey installation solutions and lighting control systems is desirable Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders Self-motivated and strategic thinker with a results-driven and solution-focused approach, capable of driving innovation and new ideas from concept to delivery
