Business Development Manager, Logistics

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Manager, Logistics based in United Kingdom.

This role is focused on driving commercial growth within the logistics and freight ecosystem by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities across a wide range of transportation modes. You will be responsible for expanding market presence by building strong client relationships and actively prospecting new customers in a highly competitive environment. The position requires a proactive “hunter” mindset, with a strong emphasis on cold outreach, pipeline management, and consultative selling. You will collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure seamless freight execution and a high-quality customer experience. This is a fast-paced, remote-first role where initiative, resilience, and commercial acumen directly translate into success. Your ability to understand customer logistics needs and turn them into long-term partnerships will be central to your impact.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with clients in the logistics and freight space, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and long-term partnership growth.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through cold calling, prospecting, and strategic outreach to expand the customer base.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, pipeline development, negotiation, and deal closure.
  • Meet and exceed sales activity targets, including call volume, pipeline progression, and revenue goals.
  • Collaborate closely with logistics coordinators to ensure smooth freight execution and alignment between sales commitments and operational delivery.
  • Continuously monitor market trends and client needs to identify new business opportunities and growth areas.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within the logistics, freight brokerage, or 3PL industry.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies in a competitive, target-driven environment.
  • Strong cold-calling, prospecting, and negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong performance and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and long-term client relationships.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a focus on delivering value and exceeding client expectations.
  • High level of resilience, adaptability, and comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
