Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager – Commercial Projects

Location: North West England Salary: Up to £62k DoE + £7k Car Allowance + uncapped OTE


About the Role

This fantastic opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in lighting, lighting controls, or a strong electrical grounding in field sales. You’ll work closely with M&E Consultants and Contractors to develop forward-thinking and innovative lighting solutions while maintaining autonomy and full accountability on your projects.

Successful candidates will be driven to win new business, build strong relationships, and deliver high-value commercial and public sector projects. The role requires a consultative approach, with a focus on technical understanding, project management, and tendering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and win project specifications with M&E Consultants in the North West region.
  • Manage project design, delivery, and installation with Main and M&E Contractors.
  • Sell a range of lighting products and lighting controls, including standalone systems and integrated Building Management System (BMS) solutions.
  • Interpret technical plans and drawings, collaborating with designers and engineers.
  • Lead CPD presentations, tendering processes, and project management.
  • Develop long-term client relationships and grow market share in your region.

Requirements & Qualifications

✅ Experience (2+ years preferred in)

  • Field sales within lighting or lighting controls
  • OR selling to M&E Contractors or consultants

✅ Core Skills & Attributes

  • Consultative salesperson with a driven, professional, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to win and manage long-term projects.
  • Technical aptitude (understanding of electrical drawings is desirable but not essential).
