Business Development Manager, Marine Defence

Stirling Dynamics is an innovative engineering company with annual revenues exceeding £20M and ambitious plans for continued growth. As we expand our Business Development capability, we are seeking a talented and commercially driven Business Development Manager – Marine Defence to help strengthen our position within the global maritime defence market.

We are looking for someone who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of marine defence on a global stage. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven and relationship-focused professional to build and strengthen partnerships with existing and prospective customers across the international marine defence sector.

Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging customer needs, influence opportunities early in the procurement lifecycle, and position Stirling Dynamics as a trusted strategic partner.
  • Working closely with technical and commercial colleagues, lead impactful business development campaigns, help create innovative solutions and winning proposals, and contribute to long-term growth objectives.
  • As a key ambassador for the business, represent Stirling Dynamics at customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions, and conferences in the UK and internationally, while managing strategic customer accounts to drive growth, profitability, and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Relevant business and/or engineering qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the international defence maritime sector, including surface ships, submarines, customers, competitors, emerging technologies, and market developments.
  • A proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to identifying and securing new business opportunities.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience in client engagement, CRM management, and business reporting.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes and driving sustainable growth.

  • Experience supporting bid development, solution creation, and proposal writing.
  • Strong sales presentation and proposal development skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

What Do I Need Before I Apply

This role is based from our Bristol office, with an expectation of working on-site two to three days per week alongside customer visits and business travel. Due to the nature of our work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
