Summary
My client is recruiting for a Business Development Director to join their growing sales team. It is essential for applicants to have experience within a B2B media/publishing/events/marketing solutions environment.
The sales team is responsible for identifying and developing strong relationships with new and existing clients to generate revenue through sales of print, digital, event, and conference products. You must be able to demonstrate your individual success and achievements in generating revenue for both print and digital products. Excellent communication skills are essential.
Your experience must demonstrate your ability to connect and build effective relationships with clients through cold-calling, follow up of incoming leads, and researching potential new opportunities.
UK and International travel to visit clients and to attend external industry events is required.
The Role
- Proactively develop new business to expand client base and increase sales
- Identify and develop relationships with potential new clients through research
- Gain a sound understanding of the core subject matter and provide insight and market feedback to the wider team

Lead Generation
- Sales prospecting through canvassing of clients across competitive media channels
- Initiate contact with prospective customers found through prospecting; facilitate and setup meetings via teams or at external conferences and events.
Business Development
- Developing an understanding of clients and market.
- Maintaining high levels of scheduled sales calls, visits, and client meetings.
- Issuing campaign performance reports to clients.
- Attending relevant RPL or external exhibitions/conferences – international travel may be required
Sponsorship and Delegate Sales
- Gaining a sound understanding of an event’s core subject matter.
- Ability to research prospects and build a comprehensive sales pipeline.
- Create bespoke campaign proposals to support clients' needs.
- Contact follow-up with previous event attendees and prospective attendees generated through marketing efforts.

General
- Recording all client information and follow processes within CRM.
- Consistently meet and exceed revenue targets on your allocated brand.
- Work closely and collaborate within internal teams to fulfill client campaigns.
- Research relevant upcoming industry events.
- Maintain and further develop strong working relationships with new and existing clients.
- Attendance at relevant exhibitions/conferences with international travel.
Key Skills and Experience
- 3 years’ experience of business development, sales within publishing, media, sponsorship, marketing solutions, or delegate sales is essential
- Excellent IT skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge and use of CRMs.
- Communication (written & verbal) – accuracy and professional.
- Professional attitude and integrity
- Networking and building effective relationships
- Time management – punctuality, planning, & meeting deadlines.
- Commercial awareness.
