Business Development Manager

A leading UK manufacturer within the flexible packaging sector is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to support its continued growth strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional with experience selling printed flexible packaging solutions into sectors such as food, beverage, pet food, healthcare, or personal care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving new business while managing a select portfolio of strategic accounts.
The role is heavily focused on new business development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys identifying opportunities, opening doors, and building long-term customer relationships.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of New Sales, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across a range of manufacturing markets. Approximately 80% of the role will focus on winning new customers, with the remaining 20% dedicated to developing existing key accounts.
Working closely with internal Technical, Operations, Customer Service, and Product Development teams, the successful candidate will help deliver innovative packaging solutions that meet customer requirements while driving profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Identify and win new business across the food, beverage, pet food, and related manufacturing sectors.
- Generate opportunities through networking, prospecting, referrals, exhibitions, and market research.
- Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline using the CRM system.
- Lead customer meetings, product presentations, and commercial negotiations.
- Understand customer packaging requirements and work collaboratively with technical teams to deliver tailored solutions.
- Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, and pricing strategies.
- Manage the complete sales process from initial contact through to successful implementation.
- Develop and grow a portfolio of existing strategic customer accounts.
- Conduct regular customer review meetings to identify further opportunities for growth.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
- Provide market intelligence, sales forecasts, and competitor analysis.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced Business Development professional with a strong background in packaging and a proven ability to win new business.

Is this you?
- Proven experience in Business Development or Technical Sales within the flexible packaging industry.
- A successful track record of winning new business and growing key customer accounts.
- Experience selling into food, beverage, pet food, healthcare, personal care, or industrial manufacturing.
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A commercially minded approach with strong relationship-building skills.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
