An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a growing organisation operating within the events, security, traffic management, and operational services sectors.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the company's business development strategy, identifying new market opportunities, and driving sustainable revenue growth. You will build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects, develop strategic partnerships, and lead the submission of high-quality bids and tenders for significant contracts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service delivery, and maximising opportunities for long-term contract retention and growth. You will represent the organisation at industry events and networking opportunities while staying informed of market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.

In addition to your business development responsibilities, you will provide leadership and support to a small team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will also contribute to business planning, forecasting, and budget management activities to support the organisation's wider strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Lead complex bid, tender, and proposal submissions.
  • Manage contract renewals and support client retention initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members to drive performance and growth.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful mobilisation and delivery of new contracts.

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in a senior business development, commercial, or sales leadership role.
  • Strong track record of winning new business and securing high-value contracts.
  • Experience managing tender processes and complex commercial negotiations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness.
  • Effective leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in execution.
  • Resilient, proactive, and results-focused approach.

Location

  • Hybrid working available, with national and occasional international travel required.
