Business Development Manager | Corporate, Litigation & Project Finance

If you're an experienced Business Development Manager looking for a role that combines strategic influence, high-profile practice groups and genuine career progression, this is an exceptional opportunity.

As part of a significant investment in its European Business Development function, this elite US law firm is expanding its London-based team. You'll work alongside respected partners across Corporate, Litigation/Disputes and Project Finance, helping shape business development strategy, win new work and strengthen client relationships across some of the firm's most successful global practices.

This is far more than a traditional marketing role—you'll become a trusted adviser to partners, working on high-value opportunities within a collaborative, international environment where Business Development is recognised as a key driver of the firm's continued growth.

The Opportunity

As Business Development Manager, you'll help drive the commercial success of three key practice groups by leading a wide variety of strategic marketing and business development initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering business development and marketing plans aligned with the firm's growth strategy.
  • Leading complex pitches, proposals and RFP responses from initial planning through to submission.
  • Working closely with partners to identify new business opportunities and strengthen client relationships.
  • Managing client targeting programmes, CRM data and strategic account initiatives.
  • Producing high-quality client communications, including legal updates, newsletters, thought leadership and marketing collateral.
  • Partnering with the Communications and PR teams to raise the profile of the practice groups through media, campaigns and market visibility initiatives.
  • Managing legal directory and award submissions.
  • Conducting market, client and competitor research to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Delivering high-profile client events and seminars.
  • Monitoring and reporting on BD activity, campaign performance and ROI.

About You

We're looking for an experienced legal Business Development professional who enjoys working closely with partners and thrives in a fast-paced, international environment.

You'll bring:

  • Business Development experience gained within a leading international law firm (US or Magic Circle experience would be advantageous).
  • Strong commercial awareness and a genuine interest in helping lawyers win and grow business.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Outstanding written communication, editing and proofreading abilities.
  • Experience managing bids, pitches and marketing projects from concept through to delivery.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
