Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 basic plus commission
The Role
Do you like creating winning sales strategies and executing them flawlessly? Do you have a strong and successful record of generating leads? If so, then we want to hear from you!
We are looking for a candidate who is well-versed in the Kenyan, Ugandan, or Tanzanian communities in the United Kingdom. The position would be ideal for someone who has worked in a Business Development role within insurance, franchise, sales agent, distributor, or merchant network.

Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of a Business Development Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Generating leads for the call centre sales team.
- Recruiting and managing teams of field-based sales executives serving the target South African, Tanzanian, Zambian, or Zimbabwean diaspora communities in the UK.
- Exhibiting and promoting the business at events/festivals by the target communities.
- Building relationships with key figures in the communities.
- Recruiting brand ambassadors, influencers, and leads generators.
- Personal account and sales responsibility.
- Lead change in culture and increase sales skills.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, drive efficiencies, and improve competitiveness.
- Report on the daily performance of the team.
- Ensure all processes and systems are used extensively by the team and that all company protocols are followed.
- Ensure company standards and values are implemented at all times.
- Ensure we are leading the market with exceptional customer services, product knowledge, and sales activities.

The Company
Destiny Finance Ltd t/a Diaspora Insurance is a UK-based insurance company that specializes in the design, marketing, and distribution of insurance products and risk management solutions to African nationals living and working in developed markets such as the UK, EU, North America, and Canada. You will be joining a dynamic and ambitious firm dedicated to making a significant impact on the African diasporas in terms of insurance.
The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Business Development Manager are:
- Minimum of NVQ in Business Admin, Sales, or Marketing.
- A marketing degree or a CII or any insurance qualification would be an advantage.
- Business Development: at least 3 years (Required).
- Experience in promoting business through social media & online platforms like Facebook, Google, Twitter, YouTube, online TV/newspapers.
- Knowledge of the Kenyan, Ugandan, or Tanzanian diasporas in the UK. Being originally from Africa is an added advantage.
- Experience in generating leads for the sales team.
- Experience in working in the insurance/financial services industry.
- Experience in working with community groups.
- Innovative thinker, drive, determination, and focus on success.
- An experienced and effective negotiator.
- Ability to cross-sell whilst identifying new opportunities to maximize revenue and deliver profitable sales.
- Enthused and skilled at cold calling and breaking down barriers.
- An exceptional team player.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and ambitious with exceptional levels of work ethic and drive.
- A competitive, self-motivated, and numbers-focused individual.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
