Business Development Manager
Climate17 is proud to be working with a growing, Dorset based business who work with clients from a range of sectors to help them scale their businesses sustainably and to innovate and they’re now looking to add to their Team and recruit a Business Development Manager. Their clients operate in a number of sectors, including construction, marine, agriculture and environment and the portfolio is expanding all the time.
About the Role
As a BDM, you will be allocated a number of accounts and it will be your responsibility to get to know these businesses well, find out what their growth strategy is and then connect them with larger organisations to help them scale. You’ll be responsible for developing long term relationships with the clients and then you’ll be almost an extension of them when approaching businesses on their behalf. As such, you will have excellent client management skills and be comfortable calling new businesses, some of whom you won’t have spoken to before. As such, your aptitude for sales and business development will be well developed and you’ll be able to adapt your language according to the audience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
