As part of Haymarket Media Group, the commercial team works closely with editorial, marketing, and events colleagues to deliver innovative, multi-platform commercial partnerships that create value for clients and support the continued growth of the PMW and Unlocked brands.
The Role
The Business Development Manager will drive commercial growth across the PMW and Unlocked portfolio by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, while growing the value of existing client relationships through a consultative and solutions-focused approach.
- Develop tailored commercial partnerships by understanding client objectives and working collaboratively with colleagues across commercial content, research, marketing, events, design, project management, and editorial to deliver integrated, multi-platform solutions.
- Build a strong pipeline of opportunities by proactively identifying market trends, monitoring competitor activity, and maintaining accurate sales activity and forecasting through Salesforce to support the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across the PMW and Unlocked portfolio, building a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
- Develop and grow existing client relationships by understanding business objectives and identifying opportunities to expand commercial partnerships.
- Create and deliver compelling commercial proposals, presentations, and pitches that demonstrate the value of PMW and Unlocked's products, services, and audiences.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across marketing, commercial content, project management, events, and editorial to develop integrated client solutions and deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Identify opportunities to develop cross-brand partnerships and collaborate with colleagues across the wider Haymarket portfolio to maximize client value and commercial growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior decision-makers, representing PMW and Unlocked at client meetings, networking opportunities, and industry events.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, competitor activity, and client challenges, using insight to identify new commercial opportunities and position products effectively.
- Manage sales activity, pipeline, and forecasting through Salesforce, ensuring opportunities and client information are accurately maintained and reported.
- Deliver revenue in line with agreed targets, KPIs, and business objectives, contributing to the continued growth of the PMW and Unlocked portfolio.
Key Relationships
The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Partnerships Director to develop and deliver business development strategies, strengthen key client and partner relationships, share market insight, and identify opportunities that support the achievement of commercial objectives and sustainable growth.
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria

Knowledge
- Good understanding of business development, consultative sales, and account growth within a B2B environment.
- Knowledge of multi-platform media, marketing solutions, or commercial partnerships would be advantageous.
- Understanding of sales pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM systems, ideally Salesforce.
- Knowledge of market research, competitor analysis, and customer insights to identify commercial opportunities.
- Understanding of how cross-functional teams collaborate to deliver successful commercial campaigns and client solutions.

Skills
- Strong business development, negotiation, and commercial influencing skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and convert leads into long-term client partnerships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and develop tailored solutions.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, prioritize workload, and deliver against targets and deadlines.
- Confident using CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications to manage pipeline activity and support forecasting.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across sales, marketing, editorial, events, and commercial content teams.
Experience
- Experience in a client-facing business development, sales, or commercial role within a B2B environment.
- Proven track record of identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities while growing existing client relationships.
- Experience creating and delivering commercial proposals, presentations, and pitches to prospective clients.
- Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasting revenue, and maintaining accurate CRM records, ideally using Salesforce.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver commercial solutions and achieve business objectives.
- Experience representing a business at client meetings, networking events, or industry events would be advantageous.
