Business Development Manager - Tankers

Business Development Manager (Tankers) – National Bulk Liquid Services

Civilised routes for profitable growth—help us make a difference

As a Business Development Manager based in the South West, you’ll drive new business growth across southern regions, balancing hazardous and non-hazardous liquid solutions with Brittany Region and South West operations.

This ideally remote-first role (depot/site-based with some home working) requires regular travel and may include occasional overnight stays to win new contracts and optimise waste water liquid volumes.

About the Role

As Business Development Manager, Tankers – at Biffa, you play a strategic role in increasing liquid waste volumes across specialist networks. Collaborating closely with regional depots and operational stakeholders, you’ll identify opportunities to:

  • Win new customers in hazardous and non-hazardous waste water markets.
  • Cross-sell further services and ensure Biffa remains the leading bulk liquid solutions provider.

This commercially driven position is ideal for someone with a strong industry network and a proven track in securing and growing contracts. You’ll drive profitability across the South West, while working with team members across Biffa.

Core Responsibilities

  • Mapped lead-generation: Identify and secure new high-value propositions for Biffa’s National Bulk Liquid section, aligned with operating strengths.
  • Profit-focused sales: Set and exceed annual/quarterly targets while delivering above industry benchmarks through data-driven strategies.
  • Pipeline management: Build a detailed business pipeline, forecasting expected sales volumes and driving revenue acceleration.
  • Performance reporting: Provide regular transparency of activity, success and cost optimisations to commercial and operational stakeholders.
  • Operations alignment: Work collaboratively with regional tanker specialists to ensure strategic growth aligns with operational requirements.
  • Technical continuity: Monitor and update Biffa’s CRM platforms (across XPs) to ensure professional marketing, tracking and sales fittings.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Engage with commercial partners, sharing best practices and pipeline updates proficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
