Business Development Manager – Tankers (National Bulk Liquid)
About the Role
Help us make a difference as a Business Development Manager – Tankers in this South West-based role. You’ll drive new business across South Wales and the South West, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays required. This depot-and-site-based position is well-suited to candidates based in South Wales, Bristol or surrounding areas, with some flexibility for home working.
As part of Specialist Services, you’ll focus on growing National Bulk Liquid (Tankers) solutions, winning new customers, increasing waste liquid volumes, and cross-selling our broader service offerings. This is a commercially driven role requiring deep industry expertise, an established contacts network, and a proven track record in securing contracts and revenue growth.
You’ll work closely with customers and internal stakeholders, playing a critical role in expanding our tanker business across the region.
Core Responsibilities
- New Business Growth: Explore, win, and manage business opportunities to secure and grow bulk liquids services, staying within defined commercial strengths and operating zones.
- Revenue Targets: Proactively drive profitable new business sales, consistently exceeding quarterly and annual targets.
- Pipeline Management: Develop and maintain a detailed new business pipeline, forecasting expected volumes and sales revenue to exceed targets.
- Reporting: Prepare regular activity and pipeline reports to give stakeholder visibility on current progress and future forecasts.
- Operations Alignment: Collaborate with the regional tanker operations team to develop a growth strategy that meets business needs.
- CRM Maintenance: Ensure accurate business CRM data is kept up-to-date for effective marketing campaigns.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other commercial teams to share best practices and pipeline insights.

Requirements
- New Business Development: Proven experience in securing, managing, and implementing new service offerings, with a strong track record of building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep technical knowledge of the bulk liquids market—both hazardous and non-hazardous—including operational specifics of tanker specifications and fittings.
- Network & Opportunities: An established industry contact network, adept at identifying and securing new business ventures.
- Sales & Negotiation: Exceptional communication, presentation, sales, and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and drive positive outcomes.
- Analytical & Planning: Strong analytical, organisational, and planning abilities— capable of quick decision-making, problem-solving, and delivering against tight deadlines and targets.
- Self-Driven & Collaborative: Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of working independently or in cross-functional teams.
