Help us make a difference as a Business Development Manager in our Tankers role.
This South West-based position focuses on driving new business across South Wales and the South West, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays required. Supporting both our Hazrem business and Taunton depot, this position is ideally suited to candidates based in South Wales, Bristol, or surrounding areas. The role is primarily depot-based, with some flexibility for home working.
About the Role
As Business Development Manager for Tankers, you will drive new business growth within our National Bulk Liquid (Tankers) service in Specialist Services. Your focus will be on:
- Winning new customers
- Increasing waste liquid volumes
- Identifying opportunities to cross-sell our wider service offering
This is a commercially focused role requiring: ✔ Strong industry knowledge ✔ An established network ✔ Proven ability to win contracts and deliver revenue growth
You’ll work closely with customers and internal stakeholders, playing a key role in expanding our tanker business across the region.
Core Responsibilities
- Exploring and managing new business opportunities to secure and grow bulk liquids contracts
- Proactively selling profitable new business aligned with operating strengths, ensuring quarterly/annual new business targets are exceeded
- Developing and maintaining a detailed new business pipeline, providing clear volume forecasts and meeting targeted sales revenues
- Generating regular activity and pipeline reports for commercial and operational stakeholders
- Collaborating with regional tankers operations to align a growth strategy with business needs
- Maintaining CRM data to support marketing campaigns
- Liaising with other commercial teams on pipelines and best practices
- Working in a dynamic, transparent environment with industry professionals

Requirements
To excel in this role, you will possess:
- Experience in developing, managing, and delivering new business services, with a proven track record in customer relationship management
- Deep knowledge of the bulk liquids market, including hazardous and non-hazardous products, plus operational expertise in tanker specifications and fittings
- Established industry network and ability to identify and secure new business opportunities
- Exceptional communication, presentation, sales, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to manage conflict and achieve positive outcomes
- Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills—capable of quick problem-solving, adapting solutions, and meeting tight deadlines/targets
- Self-motivation and resilience, with experience working independently and collaboratively within and outside the organisation
