Business Development Manager - Tankers

Business Development Manager (Tankers) – South West & South Wales

Drive new business growth across National Bulk Liquid (Tankers) services as part of Specialist Services at Biffa, the UK’s No. 1 choice for business waste management.

Based in the South West, with regional travel across South Wales and the South West (including Bristol, Taunton, and surrounding areas), this commercial, independent role blends depot/site-based tasks with flexible home-working opportunities.


About the Role

You’ll focus on winning new customers, expanding waste liquid volumes, and cross-selling other services. This is a fast-paced, results-driven position demanding strong industry networks, a proven track record in contract winning, and a passion for Driverand revenue growth.

Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you’ll shape Biffa’s tanker business expansion across the region.


Your Core Responsibilities

New Business Development & Growth

  • Explore, win, and manage new bulk liquids business opportunities to secure and grow revenues.
  • Proactively sell profitable new business aligned with operational strengths, exceeding quarterly/annual targets.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed new business pipeline, forecasting volumes and driving revenue growth.

Operational & Commercial Coordination

  • Update the business CRM to enable targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Generate regular pipeline reporting for commercial and operational stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the regional tankers operations team to refine growth strategies.

Strategic Networking & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with internal commercial teams to share best practices and aligned targets.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, internal departments, and external partners.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, transparent culture—free from bureaucracy.

Requirements

  • Industry experience in developing, managing, and implementing new business services, with a focus on customer relations.
  • Expertise in the bulk liquids sector (hazardous & non-hazardous materials), including tanker specifications/fittings.
  • Established industry network with the ability to identify and secure new business growth.
  • Sharp commercial acumen, with strong sales, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Analytical prowess, clear goal-setting, and resilience to hit tight deadlines.
