Business Development Manager – Pharmaceutical Infrastructure Solutions

Company Overview

Blackfield Associates are partnering with a leading engineering and project delivery organisation that designs and delivers complex manufacturing/ HVAC environments for the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors. As part of continued growth, we are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new business opportunities across the UK and Europe.

Role Overview

This role is focused on selling high-value, turnkey project solutions including facility design, manufacturing infrastructure, cleanroom environments, utilities, and specialist engineering services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven individual who understands the pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape and has experience engaging with stakeholders involved in capital projects, facility expansions, and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy targeting pharmaceutical and life sciences organisations.
  • Identify and secure new opportunities for turnkey engineering, design, and project delivery solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering, facilities, capital projects, and procurement functions.
  • Generate and manage a pipeline of opportunities from initial engagement through to contract award.
  • Collaborate with technical and operational teams to develop compelling proposals and solutions.
  • Lead commercial discussions, negotiations, and client presentations.
  • Monitor market trends, investment activity, and emerging opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.

What's Needed

  • Proven success in business development, sales, or commercial roles within engineering, construction, technical services, or project delivery environments.
  • Experience selling solutions into pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences organisations.
  • A sales 'Hunter' personality.
  • Knowledge of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience developing relationships with engineering, facilities, manufacturing, or project stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of generating revenue growth and securing new business.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a growth-focused environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Cleanroom and controlled environment projects.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
  • Capital equipment or infrastructure projects.
  • Design & build, EPCM, EPC, engineering consulting, or turnkey project delivery.
  • Life sciences expansion, redevelopment, or facility upgrade programmes.
