Business Development Manager UK&I

Business Development Manager – UK Central Packaging Division (Home-Based with Frequent Travel)

About the Role

The DS Smith Sales team combines dynamic professionals who deliver Sales strategy, performance, and customer-centric solutions. They drive our mission to showcase sustainable and innovative packaging—connecting with Global Brands, Business Development contacts, and FMCG industries.

We are seeking a proactive, ambitious, and customer-focused individual to join as a Business Development Manager for the UK Central Packaging Division, a key role aligned with our growth strategy. You’ll work across UK and European packaging teams while collaborating with Sales Managers, using autonomy and input to transform the role.

This is a true Business Development position—admin support will assist in nominal account management tasks, ensuring you can focus on networking, opportunity creation, and driving new business across Drinks, Snacks, and wider FMCG markets.

Ideal candidates thrive in fast-paced environments, possess new business development expertise, and love presenting, negotiating, and building strong client relationships. If you enjoy travel, customer engagement, and targets with sustainability at the heart of the business, this might be your next big challenge!

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across UK and European packaging teams and liaise with Sales Managers to drive growth.
  • Focus on new business development, building working relationships with existing and potential customers.
  • Contribute to pipeline management and sales reporting to support strategic planning.
  • Present dynamic, professional proposals to both new and existing clients.
  • Work independently in a remote/hybrid environment with frequent travel across the UK.
  • Advocate for DS Smith’s sustainable solutions to customers.
  • Drive sales performance and contribute to target attainment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
