Intern Business Development & Portfolio Analytics
Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Intern to support our Business Development and Portfolio Management team within the Generic Pharmaceuticals business. This role offers hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical acquisitions, licensing opportunities, portfolio expansion, market assessment, company valuation, and strategic decision-making. The intern will assist in identifying and evaluating potential acquisition, licensing, and portfolio opportunities across Europe and other key markets. Working closely with the Commercial, Finance, Regulatory, and Business Development teams, the successful candidate will contribute to company valuations, market assessments, competitive intelligence, AI-enabled analytics, and executive presentations for senior management. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong Excel skills, excellent analytical capabilities, and a keen interest in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, strategy, and corporate finance.
Key Responsibilities
Opportunity Scouting & Market Intelligence
- Identify and screen acquisition, licensing, and portfolio expansion opportunities across generic pharmaceuticals.
- Monitor pharmaceutical markets, competitor activities, product launches, patent expiries, and M&A transactions.
- Maintain comprehensive databases of potential target companies, products, and strategic opportunities.
- Conduct preliminary research on companies, products, therapeutic areas, and market trends.
Company Evaluation & Due Diligence Support
- Assess opportunities submitted by internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Compile company profiles, product portfolios, financial overviews, and strategic fit assessments.
- Support opportunity prioritization using predefined evaluation criteria.
- Assist with benchmarking exercises against competitors and industry peers.

Financial Analysis & Valuation
- Develop and update valuation models under the guidance of the Finance and Commercial teams.
- Build and maintain financial models using Microsoft Excel.
- Conduct market sizing, revenue forecasting, and scenario analyses.
- Support valuation activities using DCF (Discounted Cash Flow), comparable company analysis, transaction benchmarking, and other relevant methodologies.
- Prepare sensitivity analyses and document key financial assumptions.
Data Analytics, AI & Database Management
- Build and maintain opportunity-tracking databases.
- Utilize AI tools to generate market insights, valuation hypotheses, company intelligence, and strategic recommendations.
- Support the automation of data collection and analytical processes.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across internal systems.
Management Presentations & Decision Support
- Prepare high-quality PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership.
- Summarize findings into concise management recommendations.
- Develop dashboards, charts, and visualizations to support strategic discussions.
- Present analyses and recommendations during team reviews when required.
Required Qualifications
Education
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Pharmacy / Life Sciences / Biotechnology
- Business / Finance / Economics
- Data Analytics / Engineering (or a related quantitative field)

Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (mandatory).
- Strong PowerPoint presentation and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and database management.
- Familiarity with corporate finance, financial modeling, and valuation concepts.
- Comfortable utilizing AI tools and digital research platforms.
