Business Development Specialist
Job Title: Sales Manager / Business Development Representative
Key Responsibilities
The primary role involves:
- Generating new sales with a focus on closing deals and completing paperwork
- Managing correspondence between the sales team and clients
- Monitoring customer accounts
- Tracking sales targets
- Handling incoming phone calls
- Scheduling team members’ diaries
Core Duties & Expectations

Prospecting & Pipeline Development:
- Drive calls to identify and qualify prospects
- Serve as the initial point of contact for targeted accounts
- Design and implement strategies to build an optimal sales pipeline
- Lead generation and prospecting to achieve pipeline targets

Client & Relationship Management:
- Develop long-term relationships with senior stakeholders at prospect firms
- Oversee the end-to-end sales process, including:
- Initial client outreach
- On-site presentations
- RFI responses
- Multi-day client workshops
- Negotiations and deal signatures
- Provide post-sale support to ensure customer satisfaction throughout engagement.

- Product Expertise & Execution:
- Deliver tailored solutions to prospects and proposal materials
- Adapt to a commissioned revenue model after a foundational support phase
- Position solutions against competitive offerings, in collaboration with marketing, presales, and regional teams.
Commercial & Ethical Compliance
- Strict adherence to FULCRUM’s Sales Policy, HR Guidelines, and Corporate Ethics.
- Travel is expected (see below).
Travel Requirements
- Must support an aggressive travel schedule to:
- Conduct regional prospect visits
- Present sales solutions
- Sign/draft contracts in person
- Lead engagement implementation and relationship building beyond close.

Person Spec Success Criteria
Background & Experience
You should have:
- Prior experience selling IT services/products in transactional or complex sales cycles
- Proven ability in a high-performing commercial team with changing priorities
- Minimum £2M–£5M deal closure history (targeted at insurance sector)
- IT/Tech selling expertise: Portals, mobile solutions, packaged software, and digital products.
