Business Intelligence Developer
BI Developer – Power BI & Microsoft Fabric
Frontier Resourcing is excited to support an ambitious consultancy delivering innovative project controls solutions across the UK’s most critical sectors, including Infrastructure, Rail, Civil Engineering, Nuclear, and Defence.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced BI Developer to join their team in Bridgwater. This is an ideal opportunity to take a leadership role in designing and delivering enterprise-scale Business Intelligence solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across major programmes and projects.
Working within a collaborative and technically skilled team, your key responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and reports.
- Develop scalable dimensional data models (fact and dimension tables) to support analytical reporting.
- Design and optimise enterprise semantic models using star schema methodologies.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, calculations, and KPIs to support business reporting requirements.
- Optimise Power BI datasets and semantic models for maximum performance and scalability.
- Develop and refine Power Query transformations, including troubleshooting data performance issues.
- Optimise SQL queries and underlying data sources for analytical workloads.
- Work with Microsoft Fabric to build modern analytics solutions.
- Leverage Python in analytics environments, such as Fabric Notebooks and Databricks.
- Support deployment, governance, and automation of enterprise BI solutions.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-impact reporting solutions.
- Promote best practices in data governance, security, and analytics standards.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in developing Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Experience delivering analytics solutions within Infrastructure, Rail, Nuclear, Defence, or other highly regulated industries.
- Strong expertise in designing dimensional data models for enterprise analytics.
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft Fabric architecture.
- Advanced experience with DAX and enterprise semantic modelling using star schema design.
- Proven ability in tuning and optimising Power BI semantic models.
- Advanced skills in Power Query, including transformation optimisation and diagnostics.
- Strong SQL knowledge, with experience in optimising data sources for reporting and analytics.
- Familiarity with Python in analytics environments, such as Microsoft Fabric Notebooks or Databricks.

- Deployment Pipelines
- REST APIs
- Data Gateway Architecture
- Audit Logging and Monitoring
- Implementation of governance frameworks in enterprise analytics platforms.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with Azure-based data platforms.
- Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks.
