Roles are either 'site based' or 'home based'.
Site based roles are mainly based at the workplace, with the option to work from home for up to two days a week, depending on service needs.
Home based roles are mainly based at home, with the expectation of attending the workplace up to one day a week.
The working arrangement for each role is set by the manager, based on service requirements.
Job Introduction
We're recruiting a Business Intelligence Officer to join our Children's Services team at Milton Keynes City Council.
In this role, the successful candidate supports informed decision making that directly benefits children, young people, and families across the city.

The role focuses on turning complex data into meaningful insight, helping the service understand current demand, predict future needs, and shape services that make a real difference. The work supports statutory duties around placement sufficiency, ensuring the right provision is in place now and in the future.
The post holder works closely with colleagues and partners to provide clear analysis, influence strategy, and support service improvement across Children's Services.

Site-Based role
This is a Site-Based role, and you'll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver high quality business intelligence to support Children's Services, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and meaningful.
- Analyse trends and produce clear reports that help managers understand performance, identify key insights, and plan for future demand.
- Support statutory data returns, ensuring they are completed accurately, on time, and with appropriate quality assurance.
- Work with colleagues and partners to improve data quality, data sharing, and data security practices.
- Use research, evidence, and analysis to support service improvement, development, and decision-making.
- Develop and improve methods of data collection, storage, and analysis, while working collaboratively to challenge and support stakeholders to achieve high quality outcomes.

Ideal Candidate
- Educated to National Qualifications Framework Level five (degree) or above in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience working with complex datasets.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and communicate complex data clearly to a range of audiences.
- Ability to think strategically while applying insight to practical solutions that deliver outcomes.
- A person who enjoys working with data, identifying patterns, and developing meaningful recommendations.
- Self motivated and organised, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- A collaborative approach, working effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to drive improvement.
