Data Analyst Role – Shape Student Success At Boston College
About the Role
Transform data into actionable insights and contribute to shaping student success as a Data Analyst within our Business Intelligence team at Boston College. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic Further Education environment, supporting decision-making that enhances learner outcomes and operational excellence.
In this role, you’ll be a key player in collecting, analysing, and reporting on critical datasets, including student performance, curriculum data, funding metrics, and performance indicators. Your work will directly inform planning, quality improvements, and regulatory compliance across the organisation.
Core Responsibilities
- Collect, analyse, and interpret a wide range of high-stakes student, curriculum, and funding data
- Produce evidence-based reports using T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, and other BI Tools to support effective decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, timely, and impactful management information
- Support regulatory and strategic reporting to safeguard compliance and enhance governance
- Ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across the organisation

Essential Requirements
✔ Experience in SQL database management with robust knowledge of querying and reporting tools ✔ Proficiency in data analysis and production of reports through methodologies, tools, and techniques (e.g., T-SQL, SSRS, or BI platforms) ✔ Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities ✔ A passion for leveraging data to drive meaningful outcomes, particularly in an education or operational setting ✔ Continuous personal development mindset (e.g., professional qualifications, upskilling, or apprenticeships)
Qualifications & Alternatives
Preferred qualifications:
- A relevant honours degree or equivalent in a numerical discipline (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Statistics)
- Or, a proven track record of similar analytical work through applicable experience
Alternative pathway considered:
- Aspiration and commitment to study towards a Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship for those without a relevant degree
Desirable Skills & Experience
🔹 Experience working in Education or Public Sector environments 🔹 Proficiency in visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) 🔹 Familiarity with ETL processes or operational data warehousing 🔹 Regulatory reporting experience, particularly in SES (Student Investment Funds) or Sector Performance data
