Business Manager (HR Directorate)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Manager to join a leading London-based university within its HR Directorate. This role plays a critical part in supporting Directorate performance, coordinating strategic priorities, and enabling effective decision-making across senior leadership.
You will act as the central point of coordination for the Chief People Officer (CPO) and the HR Senior Leadership Team, providing high-quality business management support, driving operational effectiveness, and helping to deliver key transformation initiatives. This is a highly visible role contributing to planning, governance, project coordination, and long-term strategic delivery.

- Rate: £300 - £400 per day (day rate)
- Location: London (Hybrid working available)
Key Responsibilities
Business Management & Performance Support
- Support the Chief People Officer and HR leadership team in delivering Directorate priorities and operational effectiveness.
- Build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment across plans, priorities, and outcomes.

Planning, Programme Coordination & Governance
- Coordinate Directorate-wide planning, governance cycles, and delivery of key initiatives, including transformation and innovation programmes.
- Maintain project documentation such as plans, milestones, risk logs, and action trackers to ensure effective delivery.
- Support leadership meetings by tracking actions, decisions, and priorities for successful execution.
Analysis & Reporting
- Monitor and report on Directorate performance, providing clear insights on progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Produce high-quality reports, briefings, and presentations to support senior decision-making.
- Analyse management information to identify trends, supporting informed strategic planning.
Continuous Improvement & Change
- Support the delivery of transformation programmes and continuous improvement initiatives across the HR Directorate.
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes, governance, and ways of working.
- Assist in embedding a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.

Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in business management, project coordination, or programme support within a large and complex organisation.
- Knowledge of planning, governance processes, and performance reporting.
- Ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and supporting senior leadership teams.
