**Business Modelling Team – Front to Back Valuation Modeller
Location: London (Hybrid) or Singapore Team Size: 3 (2 HQ in London, 1 in Singapore)
The Business Modelling team is responsible for defining how the business represents its trades and valuations across the organisation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and trust in commercial data that supports trading and risk decision-making. The team covers Trade Data, Valuation Models, and systems mapping, serving global stakeholders across Front and Middle Office.
About the Role
The team’s initial focus is the migration of LNG, Coal, and Freight valuations onto a new third-party platform, improving:
- P&L accuracy and timeliness
- Risk reporting standards
This work is part of a broader restructuring to modernise valuation methodologies, with future expansion into Power and Gas markets.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Collaborating with business teams to analyse requirements and design trade data models, creating specs and prototypes for IT teams to implement.
- Investigating discrepancies between legacy and new systems to ensure transition confidence and data consistency.
- Applying market data expertise to meet new trading/valuation needs, working closely with Quant and IT teams (e.g., reviewing and optimising market data inputs).
- Prioritising pipeline delivery, balancing enhancement requests against operational and strategic business needs.
Responsibilities

- Design and document data frameworks, mappings, and interfaces to improve end-to-end trade processes.
- Align systems integration with enterprise architecture standards across global offices.

Data & Valuation Accuracy:
- Conduct business reviews to reconcile valuation differences between systems.
- Validate commercial assumptions with trading desks and risk teams.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as intermediaries between Front Office (traders, analysts), IT (developers, data engineers), and Product/Risk teams.
- Drive transparency in technical decisions affecting trade outcomes.

Pipeline & Process Improvement:
- Establish clearly defined requirements backlog (e.g., via Azure DevOps) and manage prioritisation.
- Monitor metrics (e.g., reporting delay reductions, data accuracy rates) to measure impact.
Requirements
Core Qualifications

Degree: Numerate discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science).

Experience:
- 5+ years in roles requiring data analysis, trade modelling, or product function (e.g., Business Architect, Analyst, Trader, or Data Lead).
- Proven exposure to the energy trading supply chain, particularly:
- P&L Explain processes, trade lifecycle (continuous vs. start/end), and end-user reporting.
- ERTRM systems (60%+ contact time): Allegro, Endur, Topaz, or Zema (evidenced by use).
- Energy market data (technical): Forward and derived curve manipulation, price differentials.

Analytical & Technical Skills:
- Hands-on proficiency in core tools:
- SQL, Power BI, Excel, Python (Pandas preferred), or Databricks.
- Ability to clean, CRM, or formulise large datasets.

Desirable
- Specialised Experience:
- Physical commodity knowledge in LNG, Coal, or Freight trades (labelling preference for candidates with direct product focus).
- Technical Adaptability:
- Understanding of emerging practices like JSON APIs, distributed architectures, or data mesh.
- Process Management: Prioritisation framework for tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Stakeholder Influence: Ability to bridge extremes between traders, quant analysts, and decommissioning risk teams.
