Business Operations Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Business Operations Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of their organisation. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving operational performance, profitability, compliance, and continuous improvement across the business.

Position Details

  • Position: Business Operations Manager
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Salary: From £60,000
  • Working Pattern: Full Time - Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm
  • Location: Outskirts of Newcastle City Centre - free parking onsite

The Role

Reporting directly to the Business Owner, the Business Operations Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the business, ensuring the organisation operates efficiently, profitably, and in line with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily business operations, ensuring effective collaboration and performance across all departments.
  • Drive profitability through effective pricing strategies, cost control, budgeting, and performance management.
  • Partner with the sales team to support tender submissions, pricing proposals, and the development of new commercial opportunities.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring performance, quality, and compliance standards are consistently achieved.
  • Provide leadership, support, and accountability to departmental managers, enabling informed decision-making and high performance.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency, service delivery, and profitability.
  • Oversee key business administration functions, including fleet management, insurance, and supplier relationships.
  • Support employee recruitment, development, succession planning, and performance management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal obligations, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Produce regular reports and business insights for the Business Owner, highlighting operational performance, risks, opportunities, and financial results.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a senior operations, commercial, or business management position.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing profitability, budgets, and operational performance.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and challenge teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.
  • Experience working closely with sales, finance, operational, and technical teams.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.
