Business Process Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Business Process Analyst to join our IT team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role to analyse, design, document and improve business processes across the Firm, ensuring processes are efficient, scalable, well-controlled and aligned to business, technology and transformation objectives.

Working closely with business stakeholders, IT, project teams and operational leaders you will gain an understanding of current ways of working, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the design and implementation of future-state processes. The role will help ensure that technology-enabled change is underpinned by robust business analysis, clear process design, strong stakeholder engagement and measurable business outcomes.

Main Tasks

Process Analysis and Design

  • Analyse, document and assess current-state processes across operational, client-facing and support functions, identifying inefficiencies, duplication, manual workarounds, control gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Design practical future-state processes that improve efficiency, consistency, control, service quality and user experience, using recognised techniques such as BPMN, process mapping, SIPOC, RACI, root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods.
  • Produce clear process documentation, including maps, workflow diagrams, standard operating procedures, requirements, user stories and decision records, while supporting definition of ownership, handoffs, controls and performance measures.

Business Analysis and Requirements Management

  • Work with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, validate and document clear, testable requirements aligned to business objectives.
  • Support business cases, prioritisation and traceability by defining benefits, pain points, risks, dependencies, impacts and measurable outcomes from initial need through to delivery and adoption.

Stakeholder Engagement and Change Support

  • Engage confidently with stakeholders across the Firm, including senior leaders, operational teams, fee earners, support functions and technology teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, process discovery and playback sessions to build shared understanding of current and future ways of working.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technology teams, constructively challenging existing processes and supporting change management, user adoption and process considerations within system or operational change programmes.

Tools, Standards and Continuous Improvement

  • Use appropriate process and modelling tools to create clear, maintainable documentation in line with agreed standards, governance and version control.
  • Contribute to firmwide process standards, templates, modelling conventions and business analysis practices.
  • Use data, metrics and collaboration with technology teams to identify trends, bottlenecks, quality issues, automation opportunities and improvements that support reporting, governance, adoption and operational excellence.

Project and Delivery Support

  • Support transformation and technology programmes by embedding process analysis, requirements definition and business readiness from the earliest stages of delivery.
  • Assist with impact assessments, readiness reviews, testing preparation, UAT support, operational risk identification and post-implementation process reviews.
  • Support transition into business-as-usual operation, contributing to training, communications, adoption planning and benefits tracking, including baseline performance measures.

Systems, Applications and Tools

  • Business process analysis may cover a broad portfolio of business-critical processes and applications, including CRM, finance, billing, invoicing, time recording, matter/project management and professional services systems.
  • Relevant tools may include document and knowledge management systems such as iManage and SharePoint, Microsoft 365 applications, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Liberty Spark, Azure DevOps, Jira and Confluence.
  • The role may also support property technology tools such as Reapit, Yardi, Tramps, Costar, Nimbus and others; this job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be required to support the smooth running of the department.

What will it take to be successful?

You will have proven experience as a Business Process Analyst, Business Analyst, Process Analyst or in a similar role within a complex organisation, with a track record of supporting business change and technology-enabled transformation. You will be skilled in analysing, documenting and improving business processes, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. You will possess strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with experience using recognised business analysis and process improvement techniques such as process mapping, BPMN, gap analysis and impact assessment. You will be confident producing clear, high-quality documentation for both business and technical audiences and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience within a professional services environment would be advantageous. A recognised business analysis qualification, such as IIBA, BCS or PMI-PBA, or equivalent practical experience, is desirable. You will be a collaborative and proactive individual with a passion for driving continuous improvement and delivering measurable business outcomes.
