Business Process Analyst - Treasury & Investments (6 Month FTC)

Location: London Position: Full-time, contract

The Business Process Analyst (Treasury & Investments) will play a pivotal role in supporting and shaping transition activities, focusing on analysing, documenting, and improving business processes, operating models, and system interactions. This role aligns with operational resilience, strategic objectives, and regulatory compliance, leveraging structured requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and process design. Collaboration is key, spanning senior stakeholders across:

  • Incumbent supplier
  • Finance (Investments & Treasury)
  • Risk
  • Compliance
  • Technology
  • Banking and custodian partners

The Analyst ensures seamless transitions with minimal disruption by delivering clarity, traceability, and analytical insight across business-as-usual activities.


About the Role

Process Mapping & Requirements Gathering

  • Conduct end-to-end workflow and process mapping (using Data First tools and BIC process systems, with training provided).
  • Elicit, analyse, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop acceptance criteria and company guidelines (e.g., business cases, status reports).
  • Act as a bridge between business units and technical teams to harmonise objectives and deliverables.

Operating Model Design & Documentation

  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Analyse current processes, systems, and controls, then define future-state models.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and optimisation opportunities.
  • Outline roles, responsibilities, service levels, and handover points for comprehensive functional alignment.
  • Support validation and sign-offs of operational handovers, ensuring adherence to acceptance criteria.

Stakeholder & Change Management

  • Facilitate workshops and requirements-gathering sessions.
  • Engage senior stakeholders (Investments, Operations, Finance, Risk, and Compliance) to align strategies and transparency initiatives.
  • Lead change impact assessments and knowledge-transfer activities.
  • Clarify findings, risks, and dependencies with structured communications.

Risk, Compliance & Assurance

  • Identify risks related to operational continuity, data integrity, and regulatory adherence.
  • Collaborate with Risk/Compliance teams for regulatory alignment (PRA, FCA, Lloyd’s Minimum Standards).
  • Provide support for audit activities, ensuring process transparency and documentation trails.
  • Embed operational resilience and control considerations into long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create clear, robust documentation:
    • Business requirements documents (BRDs)
    • Functional specifications
    • Process maps, data flows, and impact assessments
  • Maintain requirements traceability matrices and governance reporting.
  • Present insights (e.g., business cases, governance reports) to committees.
  • Assess system/process interactions from a risk- and resilience-centric perspective.

What We Need From You

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven Business Analyst experience within financial services/insurance, specialising in complex operational transitions.
  • Strong expertise in operating model analysis and process design (methodologies: Agile, Waterfall preferred).
  • Uncompromising documentation skills, including:
    • Process maps
    • Requirements catalogues
    • Impact assessments
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and facilitation abilities.
  • Attention to detail with analytical precision.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience (Finance, Risk, Compliance, IT).
  • Regulatory frameworks (e.g., BCP, GDPR) and outsourcing governance familiarity is a plus.

  • Experience within a Lloyd’s syndicate or broader aviation/energy (re)insurance.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Investment systems (e.g., trade lifecycle, reconciliations, performance/valuation).
    • Cash management, banking oversight, and custodian processes.
    • Operational resilience principles (e.g., BCM/BUP).
