PKF Smith Cooper is one of the Midlands' leading firms of independently owned accountants and business advisors. We pride ourselves on delivering more than just technical expertise; we build trusted, long-term relationships that make a real impact. Behind that success is a team of talented, forward-thinking individuals, each playing a key role in shaping the future of the businesses and people we support.

We have ambitious plans for the future, including a goal to double in size over the next five years. As part of this growth, we are continuing to invest in our Business Recovery & Restructuring (BRR) service line and are looking to strengthen our leadership team with the appointment of an experienced Insolvency Practitioner.

This is a key senior hire for the firm, offering the opportunity to play a central role in developing and growing our insolvency and restructuring offering across the Midlands. You'll be supported by an established team, strong referral network, and the backing of a firm committed to long-term investment and growth.

About the Role

As part of our ambitious growth plans, we are seeking an experienced Insolvency Practitioner to join our Business Recovery & Restructuring team at Director or Partner level. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing practice, supported by a strong regional brand, established referral networks and a collaborative leadership team.

You will be responsible for leading a broad portfolio of corporate and personal insolvency appointments while providing strategic advice to businesses, lenders and stakeholders. Alongside delivering exceptional client service, you will play an important role in developing the team, strengthening relationships across the market, and driving future growth opportunities.

This role combines technical expertise with commercial leadership, offering a balance of client delivery, team development and business development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
