Summary of role purpose: The Business Solution Architect is responsible for translating strategic business objectives into integrated, scalable solutions. Reporting to the Lead Architect, this role is key in the intent of business portfolio leads into a structured, evidence-based view of the business capabilities, value streams, and target operating model the function needs - and then converts that into a prioritised, outcome-anchored roadmap that drives the technology backlog. The Business Solution Architect works closely with both technical and non-technical teams to turn requirements into practical, effective solutions, and supports the ongoing rationalisation and enhancement of tools - especially incorporating AI-driven capabilities wherever possible.

Description of the role:

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and the business portfolio Directors to capture requirements and help shape solutions that support business goals, ensuring business intent is captured before it reaches solution design.
  • Design and document business processes, workflows, and how information flows and translate that into clear structured business architecture capabilities, value streams and operating-model implications.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to established design and architectural standards, and assist in evolving those standards as needs change.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of business solutions.
  • Identify where AI and automation create genuine business value within the audit value stream, defining the business case.
  • Advocate for user-centric design, ensuring solutions are usable and add meaningful value.
  • Support change management and user adoption efforts, providing training and documentation as needed.
  • Own end-to-end process design and standardisation across the audit delivery, value stream, identifying handoffs, bottlenecks, rework, and waste.
  • Establish process standards and modelling conventions and use them to quantify the business case for change.
  • Mentor business and process analysts and build business architecture literacy across portfolio and product teams.

The person:

Experience and knowledge requirements:

  • Experience in business architecture, solution design, or business analysis within a complex, multi-system environment. (E)
  • Solid understanding of business process mapping, workflow optimisation, and integration techniques. (E)
  • Basic to moderate technical expertise, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineering and product teams. (D)
  • Familiarity with AI-driven business solutions and data architecture concepts. (D)
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. (E) D = Desirable E = Essential

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in business analysis, solution architecture, or process design are beneficial (e.g., TOGAF, Azure Architect).
  • Exposure to Professional Services or Audit (Big 4 experience is a plus) is an advantage.
