About the Business Solutions Team
The Business Solutions team provides scalable accounting, advisory, and compliance services, supporting clients in their day-to-day finance needs. We offer flexible solutions—whether full outsourced accounting or complementary support—to meet evolving business demands.
Our cloud-based approach ensures real-time data accessibility and remote collaboration. We specialise in industries like financial services, renewable energy, technology, professional practices, and hospitality while adapting to unique regulatory requirements.
Through this role, you’ll deeply engage with clients and grow with the business as you progress.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring budgets, deadlines, and quality standards are met.
- Oversee management accounts, VAT returns, and statutory financial statements.
- Act as primary client contact, resolving queries and delivering strategic insights.
- Lead client onboarding, including system migration, solution advice, and transition planning.

Technical Delivery
- Apply UK GAAP and IFRS expertise to resolve complex accounting issues.
- Stay updated on compliance, accounting, and tax developments.
- Review consolidations, cash flows, and ad hoc reporting (forecasting, KPIs, group reporting).
- Deliver client projects (e.g., process improvements, system implementations, secondments) with high-quality output and commercial success.
Client Relationships
- Build trusted, long-term client relationships.
- Lead client meetings with clear, business-focused advice.
- Identify opportunities to enhance service value.
- Coordinate cross-team collaboration (Audit, Tax, VAT, Payroll) for a seamless client experience.
Team Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop junior team members.
- Allocate and optimise workload distribution.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Lead performance appraisals, including objective setting, reviews, and career development.
Operational Management
- Manage multiple priorities and changing demands effectively.
- Oversee WIP, billing, and portfolio profitability.
- Proactively manage scope changes and fee agreements.
- Contribute to team initiatives, system implementations, and internal projects.
- Ensure compliance across the portfolio, including KYC reviews and periodic audits.

Business Development
- Support and lead business development efforts.
- Participate in pitch meetings and proposal preparation.
- Scope work, generate fee quotes, and onboard new clients.
- Drive targeted growth campaigns through strategic engagement.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with post-qualification managerial experience.
- Proven Manager-level practice experience (in accounting/business advisory).
- Financial services expertise (e.g., FCA reporting for insurance brokers/intermediaries, wealth/asset management) is desirable.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP/IFRS).
- Highly organised, excelling in multi-tasking.
- Commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with excellent client-facing ability.
- Proactive decision-maker with ownership mindset.
- Collaborative leader who motivates teams.
Systems & Software
- Cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, Dext).
- Enterprise systems (e.g., Iplicit, Dynamics) – experience preferred.
- Broad exposure to: Sage, QuickBooks, CaseWare.
