Overview
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Business Support Administration Apprentice to join its Business Support Service within the Resources & Innovation Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is keen to gain valuable workplace experience while developing professional administrative skills. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will learn how to provide high-quality administrative support that helps services run smoothly and efficiently across the Council.
As an apprentice, you will receive hands-on training and support while assisting with a wide range of administrative duties. These will include:
- Managing correspondence
- Handling telephone and email enquiries
- Maintaining accurate records
- Supporting meetings and events
- Processing documents
- Updating databases
- Using Microsoft Office applications

You will also learn how to deliver excellent customer service, work with confidential information, and contribute to the effective operation of a busy office environment. This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, is organized, and willing to learn. You do not need extensive experience, as training and development will be provided throughout your apprenticeship journey. We are looking for individuals who have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to develop a successful career in business administration. About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to work well as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook.
- An interest in developing a career in administration and business support.
- The ability to provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Confidence in handling information accurately and maintaining confidentiality.
- The ability to manage tasks effectively and work to deadlines.
- Good IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems and databases.
