Business Support Manager
We're looking for a Business Support Manager for a public sector organisation based in London (hybrid) on an initial 6-month contract, paying up to £289 per day (Inside IR35, Umbrella).
Role Overview
This is a hybrid role with an expectation to attend the office in London 2 days per week.
The successful Business Support Manager will provide operational leadership and people management for the Executive Support and Business Support teams during a period of organisational transition. You'll lead team performance, coordinate workloads and priorities, and act as the escalation point for operational issues. You'll also hold line management responsibility within a matrix environment, working closely with directors and senior leaders to balance competing demands and keep support services running consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership and People Management: Provide leadership and management for Executive Support and Business Support teams.
- Coordination and Prioritisation: Coordinate workloads and priorities.
- Escalation Point: Act as the escalation point for operational issues.
- Matrix Management: Work within a matrix environment and manage competing priorities.
- Stakeholder Management: Build effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Resource Planning and Coordination: Plan resources and coordinate workloads.
- Budget Management: Hold budget responsibilities, authorise expenditure, and work within organisational controls.

Required Experience
- Managing administrative, business support or corporate support teams
- People management, including attendance, performance, conduct, and capability matters
- Holding difficult conversations and addressing underperformance
- Working within a matrix management environment
- Managing competing priorities and operational workloads
- Building effective relationships with senior stakeholders
- Resource planning and workload coordination
- Budget holding, authorising expenditure, and working within organisational controls

Desirable Experience
- Experience working within a public sector or regulated environment
- A relevant management qualification or equivalent experience is highly desirable
