Starting Salary: £25,583 opportunity to progress £28,412 per annum - pro-rata for part-time
Hours: up to 37 hours per week

Our Business Support Service is looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organised individuals who can ensure that a high level of administrative support is provided to our departments.
Our Business Support Service is a centralised unit which has been formed to deliver a co-ordinated, consistent, and high-quality service supporting service delivery across the organisation. Business Support is critical to ensuring our departments can support services to our residents, and if you have great administrative skills and a strong customer focus, you could be part of it.
You’ll be working as part of the central Business Support Service with more than 400 colleagues, and you’ll be supporting our departments to ensure they are able to deliver critical services to the residents of Hertfordshire.
About The Role
Our Business Support Service supports a range of departments. If you are particularly interested in an area, please specify in your application. All roles tend to be hybrid, which will mean that you will be expected to work within one of Hertfordshire County Council’s offices on a regular basis as well as working from home. The hiring manager will discuss the details for each particular vacancy.
Adult Care Services
We are seeking organised, proactive and confident Business Support Officers to join our Day Opportunities Business Support team. The service provides support to people from different care groups including older people with age associated needs and younger or older adults with complex physical and/or learning disabilities. These are site based roles where you will work closely with other Business Support colleagues as well as Adult Care Services staff and you will be in regular contact with adults that use the service.
You will provide effective day to day business support to the service, ensuring reception, administrative, financial and operational processes run smoothly and efficiently. You will require strong communication skills and a calm, customer focused approach. You be required to manage competing priorities, work flexibly in a busy environment and demonstrate confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel.
You may be required to support other Day Opportunity Services within a reasonable distance, therefore the ability and willingness to travel is essential. If you enjoy working in a dynamic, front facing role where you can make a real contribution to local services, we welcome your application.
Permanent positions available:
- 2 x 30 hours (over 5 days) covering Welwyn and Hatfield Day Services. You will be based at one site within that area however may be required to travel across the North Herts, Stevenage and Welwyn & Hatfield locality where needed.

About You
Essential:
- You will be used to working to tight deadlines and with high accuracy in written correspondence.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication skill abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages, Word, Excel.
- Experience in working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to plan own work over short timescales for routine or familiar tasks and processes and use your initiative to work independently.
- GCSE or Vocational equivalent, strong numeracy, and literacy skills.
- Enthusiasm and pride in your work are qualities we welcome.
Desirable:
- Experience in minute or note taking
- Proven experience in an administrative or support role
