Supporting Virtual School
Business Support Officer
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Business Support Officer to join the supportive and collaborative team within our Education and Children's Directorate.
This role is based at County Hall, Preston (PR1 8XJ) within the Virtual Schools Team, where you’ll provide outstanding administrative support to:
- The Virtual Head and Deputy Virtual Head
- A team of Educational Consultants
- Children’s Social Care operational staff and managers

About the Role
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Forward-thinking passion to deliver an outstanding service
- Experience working in administrative environments, with proficiency in:
- Microsoft packages (e.g., Office Suite)
- Databases
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to:
- Support managers, social workers, families, and members of the public effectively
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team

Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Assisting Virtual Head, Deputy Virtual Head, and consultants with administrative requests
- Handling enquires and requests from social workers, families, and partners
- Providing clear and professional advice on operational matters
- Supporting training, development, and operational goals of the team
- Maintaining organisation-wide data, records, and systems

Home Working Policy
You’ll be required to split time between the office and home. Currently, you’ll work:
- Office-based: Tuesday & Friday
- Home-based: On alternate days, with a work-from-home policy applying to most non-office days
(Note: Workplace arrangements may be adjusted depending on operational needs or workload changes.)
