Job Description
As part of the Oncology Leadership Team, the Business Unit Manager places the patient at the center of all efforts and inspires their organization to own the commitment to rise to the challenges for every one of our patients. The incumbent’s mission is further to create, build and deliver the resourcing and launch plans for the brand and indications, supporting the delivery of the Oncology Business Unit Commercial and Financial Goals.
Major Responsibilities:
- As a leader of a Commercial Organization in Oncology, together with other affiliate’s functions involved (Regulatory Affairs, Medical, Market Access, Patient Engagement), define local brand strategy, strategic priorities and action plans to establish the brand as the treatment of choice in relevant indications.
- Be the contact person with main Global and Area teams working on the pipeline assets, notably GMCO, Global Commercial Development and Europe and provide UK insights to shape the strategic framework for future UK launches.
- Partner effectively with medical lead to gain deep knowledge and understanding of all data and product profiles in within the pipeline therapy areas.
- Create relationships with key external stakeholders in the pipeline therapy areas to deepen understanding of the environment and help building successful launch strategies and tactics.
- Lead the Brand team, to maximise the positioning of the brand and any future launches and identify all significant gaps in the affiliate’s Launch Readiness Framework, ensuring senior leadership support for prioritisation and resourcing.
- Effectively manage and execute all marketing and sales related brand activities as per Brand Plan, such as development and implementation of commercial Brand strategy and tactical Brand activities execution and deliver sales performance to maximize or exceed brand sales and margin within expense budgets.
- Optimize resource utilization by leading, developing, and building the Sales Team including setting sales targets and incentive schemes, managing Sales Force Management Systems and Key Performance Indicators to continuously improve sales performance. Ensure regular updates on Sales Team skills in terms of medical, technical, and special in-field knowledge areas.
- Hold accountability for allocated Oncology Brands’ P&L in terms of brand sales and financial planning (Financial Plan, Focus/Update, Long Range Plan).
- Professionally manage and build cross functional cooperation between key stakeholders. Ensure timely and qualitative market intelligence information flow to Brand Teams.
- Role model AbbVie Ways We Work behaviors and enable the Brand Team matrix to work in order to achieve high quality strategy and execution capability.
- Develop and coach talent and build succession plans in order to ensure continuous high performance and engaged talent pipeline in Sales and Marketing.
- Operate within AbbVie Code of Business Conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Significant relevant experience with proven track record of success in a marketing, KAM and/or sales leadership position within biotech/pharmaceutical industry
- Strong experience in managing commercial, KAM or medical team
Competencies
- Strong strategic thinking and people management
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong ability to operate in a matrix environment and build cross-function collaborative relationships.
- Ability to influence upwards and peers.
- Proven ability to demonstrate strong AbbVie leadership and leaders’ attributes.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong business and scientific acumen preferably within Oncology
- Deep knowledge of the UK environment
- Excellent knowledge of strategic and tactical marketing and sales principles and techniques
- Operates and leads effectively in a matrix structure
- Solid knowledge on finance principles and processes
BEHAVIOURS REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven track record of having achieved extraordinary business results or experience and/or leading new product launches
- Experience in working with/having regular interactions with Global &/or European teams is a strong asset
- Ability to develop business vision, translate into strategies and actionable, realistic execution actions plus knowledge of territory and relationships with key stakeholders already established
- Proven track record of successful leadership, management and coaching of teams and individuals, and in having developed talent and performance managed low performers.
- Excellent working knowledge of healthcare environment and evolving landscape
