Shape the supply chain behind projects that help create a safe and secure world

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Buyer at Rosyth, near Dunfermline, Fife.

The role

As a Buyer within our Marine Engineering & Systems business, you'll play a key role in delivering strategic procurement and facilities management solutions that support complex and high-profile projects. This is an exciting opportunity to influence project success through effective sourcing, supplier management and contract delivery, ensuring best value while minimising risk. Your work will directly contribute to critical infrastructure and operational excellence, offering excellent opportunities for professional development within a dynamic defence, aerospace and engineering environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Conducting supplier due diligence and supporting the development of technical specifications for market engagement.
  • Preparing, issuing and evaluating Invitations to Tender, Requests for Quotations and Requests for Information.
  • Delivering bid evaluations, commercial comparisons and recommendations that consider total cost of ownership.
  • Negotiating, drafting and managing contracts, amendments and extensions, including NEC4-based agreements.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and site-specific policies and procedures.

This is a 36-hour per week role based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, with two days per week onsite.

Essential experience of the Buyer:

  • Demonstrable experience applying procurement and facilities management principles and best practice.
  • Good understanding of contract terms and conditions, including the management of flow-down customer requirements.
  • Experience working within a facilities management or site-based operational environment.
  • Knowledge of day-to-day facilities management operations and commercial delivery.
  • Experience using procurement systems, eTendering platforms, contract management tools and cost estimation software.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
