Buyer – National Gas
Location: Aberdeen (Albyn Place) Salary: £41,952 – £49,335
About the Role
This is an incredible opportunity to join National Gas during a period of transformation within the Scotland & North Supply Chain team.
The role is based in our Aberdeen office and involves working on end-to-end procurement activities, from demand planning and sourcing strategy through to tendering, contract award, and supplier management. As part of a team building new ways of working, you’ll have the chance to influence processes, develop your expertise, and grow within a fast-evolving function.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of regional supply chain and procurement activities across multiple projects
- Collaborate with project teams to understand forecasted demand and upcoming requirements
- Develop and manage sourcing strategies and tender processes, including RFQs and ITTs
- Build and run tenders using SAP Ariba (or similar systems)
- Assist in creating strategic documentation, such as Gate Packs and sourcing approaches
- Evaluate supplier proposals, including commercial benchmarking and analysis
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring adherence to quality, performance, and value delivery
- Support contract management and mobilisation activities
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance, and industry standards
- Contribute to the evolution of supply chain best practices and frameworks

You are a motivated and commercially aware procurement professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Essential requirements include:
- Proven experience in Buyer, Procurement, or Supply Chain roles
- Exposure to tendering and sourcing processes (RFQs, RFPs, ITTs) and supplier selection
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to evaluate supplier proposals
- Independence and teamwork – ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Experience using procurement or ERP systems (e.g., SAP Ariba)
- Willingness to travel regionally as required
Advantageous but not essential:
- Knowledge or experience of contract frameworks (preferably NEC, though FIDIC or JCT also welcomed)
- Exposure to category management, supplier benchmarking, or cost analysis
- Experience operating in a regulated, project-based, or complex commercial environment
