Role Description
The Buyer is a full-time, on-site role based in Cheshunt, responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services needed for commercial solar projects. Day-to-day tasks include:

- Identifying and qualifying suppliers
- Requesting and evaluating quotations
- Negotiating pricing and contract terms
- Raising purchase orders in line with project timelines and budgets
- Tracking deliveries
- Resolving discrepancies or supply issues
- Maintaining accurate procurement records

The Buyer will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and finance to ensure materials meet technical specifications and quality standards. The role also involves monitoring market trends and inventory levels, contributing to cost-saving initiatives, and supporting compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally within construction, engineering, or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong skills in supplier sourcing, quotation analysis, and negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and work with project and engineering teams to ensure correct materials and equipment are ordered.
- Proficiency in using procurement or ERP systems, spreadsheets, and other digital tools to manage orders, records, and reporting.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Understanding of basic contract law, commercial terms, and supply chain best practices; knowledge of renewable energy or solar components is an advantage.
- Relevant education such as a diploma or degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field; professional procurement certifications (e.g., CIPS) are beneficial.
