Buyer – Precision Engineering & Aerospace/Defence Procurement
Global Manufacturer | Aerospace & Defence Sector
With ambitious growth plans and significant investment, a leading global manufacturer of precision-engineered components, serving the Aerospace & Defence sectors, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its procurement team.
This role involves procuring raw materials and services, cultivating supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective, reliable supply to support production.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Source and purchase raw materials and ancillary services
- Identify and onboard new suppliers where required
- Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contracts to optimise supply chain efficiency
- Monitor supply performance (delivery, quality, and cost compliance)
- Order & Process Management
- Raise and track purchase orders via the ERP system
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, engineering, and planning teams to ensure material availability
- Support cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Resolve supply chain disruptions and mitigate supplier risks
- Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate procurement records
- Generate performance analytics for procurement efficiency
- Strategic Purchasing
- Challenge supplier pricing to support cost-control strategies

Essential Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record in a Buyer, procurement, or purchasing role, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, or a fast-paced industry
- Technical Insight: Strong understanding of supply chain logistics and procurement best practices
- Operational Skills:
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation ability with a threshold for attention to detail
- Proficient in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Soft Skills:
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
- Capacity to build long-term supplier relationships

Desirable or Advantageous
- CIPS qualification (or currently working towards)
- Experience in aerospace, defence, or precision engineering supply chains
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance in defence/aerospace procurement
