Buyer / Procurement Specialist
Sector: Electronics and manufacturing Location: Swindon Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
General Description
You'll ensure smooth production supply, maintain supplier accountability, and keep stakeholders informed—playing a critical role in meeting customer commitments on time.
Key responsibilities:
- Interpret and communicate technical specifications from design engineers to suppliers.
- Select and develop sub-contract suppliers to meet timeline and delivery milestones.
- Source national and international suppliers while negotiating contracts with new and existing partners.
- Requires analytical skills, strong communication, and collaborative work across departments.
This role is pivotal during the company’s transition from an R&D-focused organisation to a high-growth revenue-driven one, ensuring time, cost, and quality excellence in procurement.

Responsibilities
- End-to-end procurement management:
- Raise and manage purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules, and expedite orders when delays occur.
- Implement workarounds to minimise disruption and keep production on track.
- Data accuracy and ERP compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date purchasing records, costs, and stock levels in CIM50 / Sage ERP systems.
- Supplier engagement:
- Regular communication on pricing, lead times, and order progress.
- Actively support sourcing efforts—identifying new suppliers, gathering quotations, and enhancing supplier diversity.
- Collaborative decision-making:
- Work closely with engineering, production, and sales teams to align procurement with operational priorities.
- Propose process improvements, tracking tools, or smarter solutions to reduce delays.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or buying, preferably within electronics, manufacturing, or engineering.
- Ability to work with ERP systems—CIM50, Sage, or similar.
- Strong organisational skills—ability to manage multiple orders and shifting priorities.
- Clear, professional communicator who engages comfortably with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Problem-solver with a hands-on, process-improvement mindset.
