We’re recruiting a Buying Assistant to support our buying team in sourcing products that help our customers enjoy the best night’s sleep. This is a hands-on, office-based role with opportunities to be involved in supplier relationships, product administration and range maintenance.

The job:

  • Support the buying team with purchase ordering, price comparisons and supplier administration.
  • Maintain accurate product records, specifications and cost information in buying systems.
  • Work with suppliers to manage lead times, stock availability and quality issues.
  • Assist with range reviews, seasonal launches and product lifecycle tasks.
  • Prepare regular reports and maintain data to support commercial decisions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across merchandising, supply chain and stores to ensure products are delivered to plan.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and supplier performance improvements.

Who do we want?

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a buying, merchandising or administrative role within retail or a related sector.
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build effective supplier and internal relationships.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or buying systems (desirable).
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks to deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the beds, furniture or homewares market.
  • Experience working with product specifications, costings and margin analysis.
  • Experience of working with international suppliers and basic understanding of import processes.
