About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior C++ Software Engineer to join our client's dynamic engineering team in Belfast. This is a staff-level, hands-on role that offers a clear pathway to technical leadership within a globally active technology business specializing in merchant acquiring and transaction processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of core server-side systems, including the Processing Gateway, which are critical to the company's transaction infrastructure. Working in a collaborative environment that emphasizes Behavioural Driven Development and Continuous Delivery, you will have the autonomy to influence technical decisions and drive high-quality software solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer passionate about building scalable, secure, and reliable systems, and eager to take on mentorship and leadership responsibilities in the future.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in server-side software development, particularly using C++ or other strongly typed object-oriented languages such as C# or Java. A solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design principles, Design Patterns, and Refactoring is essential. Experience with relational database design and development is required, along with a proven track record of delivering software in Agile environments, including Scrum or Kanban methodologies. Leadership or mentorship experience within a development team is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively. Eligibility to work full-time and permanently in the UK is a prerequisite for application.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
