Software Developer (C# /.NET)

Hybrid in Central London
Inside IR35 - Up to £800 per day

Profile Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Development Lead / Principal C# Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on software development within a strategic Risk and Product Control IT function. This role combines solution design, modern C#/.NET engineering, technical oversight, and delivery leadership, supporting business-critical applications and strategic change initiatives. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions while driving engineering best practices, mentoring developers, and ensuring successful project delivery across a modern cloud-native technology stack.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise applications, APIs, and integration services using C#/.NET.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple workstreams, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned to engineering standards.
  • Remain actively involved in software development while conducting code reviews, supporting solution design, and promoting development best practices.
  • Collaborate with business users, project managers, architects, and technology teams to deliver strategic change initiatives.
  • Support cloud-native application delivery using OpenShift/Kubernetes and modern DevOps practices.
  • Design and implement integrations with SQL Server, MongoDB, messaging platforms, and enterprise systems.
  • Mentor developers, improve team capability, and drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, testing, and software delivery.
  • Ensure solutions meet quality, security, operational resilience, and governance standards throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Extensive experience developing enterprise applications using C#/.NET in a senior technical leadership role.
  • Strong background in solution design, software architecture, and modern engineering principles, including microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, and enterprise integration technologies.
  • Knowledge of container platforms such as OpenShift or Kubernetes and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery, mentor engineers, and work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering solutions within complex, regulated enterprise environments, ideally within financial services.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality, resilient software solutions.
