About The Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join Leonardo's Integrated Sensors & Protection line of business. This role involves working on a diverse range of defense projects, contributing to the development of new features and capabilities through innovative software solutions. You will be part of a dynamic community of world-class engineers, collaborating to continuously improve and innovate market-leading products within the defense industry. The position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your skills in a challenging environment, supporting critical defense systems while advancing your professional expertise.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess experience in C++ software development, with a strong foundation in programming principles and practices. While direct industry experience in defense is not mandatory, familiarity with related technologies and processes is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt to complex technical environments. Additional skills that are beneficial include experience with C# application development, networking, and developing applications for Windows and Linux platforms. Knowledge of software lifecycle processes, configuration management tools like git, and software design methodologies such as SysML or UML will be considered a plus. Familiarity with Docker, virtual machines, CI tools like Jenkins, and adherence to software standards such as RTCA 178C, AUTOSAR, or MISRA C/C++ are also desirable.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions aligned with project requirements.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design system architectures, implement new features, and troubleshoot issues across various platforms.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Participating in code reviews, documentation, and testing procedures.
  • Contributing to continuous integration and deployment processes, utilizing tools such as Jenkins and Docker to streamline development workflows.
  • Engaging in requirements management, design, and integration activities, supporting the full software development lifecycle to deliver reliable and innovative defense solutions.
