About The Role
We are seeking talented and motivated Software Engineers to join Leonardo’s Integrated Sensors & Protection division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a range of defense projects, supporting the development of innovative software solutions that enhance sensor capabilities and protection systems. While direct industry experience in defense is not mandatory, we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who are eager to learn and grow within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software development, particularly with experience in C++. We value a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Additional skills that are advantageous include experience with C# application development, networking, and developing applications for Windows and Linux platforms. Familiarity with software lifecycle processes such as requirements management, design, testing, and integration is essential. Knowledge of configuration management tools like git, software design methodologies such as SysML or UML, and experience with Docker, virtual machines, and CI tools like Jenkins are highly desirable. Candidates with knowledge of software standards such as RTCA 178C, AUTOSAR, or MISRA C/C++ will have an added advantage. However, we emphasize that a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are the most important qualities for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at Leonardo, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions for defense applications.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and implement robust, efficient code.
- Developing and executing test cases and procedures to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Participating in code reviews, contributing to system architecture discussions, and supporting integration and deployment activities.
- Staying updated on industry standards and best practices, applying them to ensure compliance and high-quality deliverables.
- Working with configuration management tools, supporting continuous integration processes, and contributing to documentation and technical reports.
