Leader’s Office – Merton Council

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious, and politically aware individual to join the Leader’s Office at Merton Council as our Cabinet Manager.

Following the current administration’s re-election with an increased majority in May 2026, this is a particularly exciting time to join the Leader’s Office in a key role that will help the Leader of the Council, Cabinet, and wider Labour Group deliver on their ambitions to make Merton a cleaner, greener, safer, and more affordable place to live and work.

report to the Head of Leader’s Office, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct policy and communications support to the Leader of the Council
  • Managing crosscutting support for all Cabinet Members
  • Line managing the Cabinet Support Officers to ensure alignment with administrative goals
  • Leading aspects of the wider Leader’s Office team and deputising for the Head of Leader’s Office as needed
