Cable Jointer – Permanent | Full Time | Onsite
SSEN are currently looking for experienced Cable Jointers to join our Southern Electric Power Distribution team in the following locations:
- New Forest
- Yeovil
- Poole
- Salisbury
- West London
- Slough
- Reading
- Portsmouth
- Isle of Wight
- Basingstoke
- Aldershot
- Petersfield
- Swindon
- Melksham
- Oxford
Salary & Benefits
- Circa £50k OTE
- Base salary: £36,139 – £43,188 + overtime & standby payments
- Skills-based pay matrix – salary increases as you develop skills

Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Carry out HV & LV network jointing, cabling and excavation on a pre-planned and urgent-response basis.
- Handle out-of-hours standby duties and respond to short-notice storm situations.
- Work in all weather conditions (outdoors).
- Act as a safety ambassador, ensuring high compliance standards.
- Provide excellent customer service, representing SSE Power Distribution professionally.
Safety & Accountability
- Personal and team safety is non-negotiable.
- Must prioritise on-site security and compliance at all times.
Requirements
✔ Essential:
- Proven experience as a Cable Jointer in an electrical DNO.
- Recognised UK/DNO industry qualification (LV/HV jointing) up to 11kV/33kV.
- Full UK driving licence (required for all locations).
- Flexible availability: including evenings, weekends, and out-of-hours emergency response.
- Strong safety culture with adherence to guidelines.
- Proven track record in construction, repair and operation of DNO-level equipment.
✔ Preferred (but not mandatory):
- Experience using mini-excavators for site works (training available if needed).
- Basic excavation and hole-jointing skills.
This is not a trainee position – applicable experience is mandatory.
