Join the GCU (UK) Ltd Delivery Team
Join the GCU (UK) Ltd delivery team and take ownership of end-to-end fibre cabling projects across Scotland, ensuring each build is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required technical standards. You’ll lead projects from survey through to handover, coordinating with civils teams, cabling, splicing, and installation activities while keeping contractors and field teams aligned and supported.
Alongside this, you’ll manage materials, permits, traffic management, and access needs, helping to keep programmes moving and driving continuous improvement across delivery processes.
Regular travel to our operational sites is required to build effective relationships, gain insight into frontline operations, and develop a comprehensive understanding of the needs of our teams, clients, and stakeholders.
What We Expect of You
- You will be pivotal in ensuring GCU's reputation is upheld through professional representation and consistent delivery of project goals, including quality, timeliness, and cost efficiency.
- Upholding rigorous health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards is central to your duties.
- You will provide comprehensive progress reporting, identifying risks and proposing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Acting as the technical expert, you will oversee all aspects of fibre installation, address blockages and civil defects, perform quality checks, and ensure accurate documentation and timely production.
- Effective planning is vital. You’ll coordinate work schedules to optimize team efficiency, ensure all necessary noticing and documentation are in place, and rectify defects within contractual deadlines.
- Your technical expertise will aid in interpreting utility drawings, resolving on-site network issues, and ensuring proper execution of complex installations.
- Building and managing client and contractor relationships will be a priority, including conducting site audits and walk-offs to ensure satisfaction.
- You’ll also oversee the accuracy of payment applications, ensuring work meets required standards and paperwork is complete.
- Guidance of field operatives and subcontractors will focus on maintaining compliance and fostering a culture of excellence.

What You Will Bring
- Proven experience in fibre cabling or telecoms infrastructure delivery, along with strong knowledge of FTTP/PON build methods and cabling standards.
- Comfortable managing contractors, budgets, and schedules, and bring a practical, problem-solving approach to keeping projects moving in live environments.
- A solid understanding of Openreach network and processes, H&S frameworks, NRSWA, and compliance requirements is essential, and strong communication skills will help you work effectively with field teams and stakeholders.
- Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2 or APM, plus familiarity with GIS or telecoms build tools, would be a bonus.
