About the Role

Amcor is a global leader in responsible packaging solutions and is looking to recruit an experienced CAD/CAM Tooling Designer to join our established Toolroom team in Beccles.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong background in tooling design, CAD/CAM programming, and manufacturing processes.

Reporting to the Toolroom Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of mould tooling and associated components, supporting both new product introduction and ongoing production requirements.

Shift patterns

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am to 4:00pm
  • Friday: 7:00am to 1:00pm

Key Job Accountabilities

As part of the CAD/CAM Tooling Designer Role you will:

  • Design new mould tools, components, fixture and ancillary tooling using CAD software.
  • Create and develop CAM programs for CNC machining centres.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Support the manufacture of new tooling and modification of existing tooling.
  • Work closely with Toolmakers, Engineers, Production and Quality teams to ensure designs are fit for purpose and manufacturable.
  • Assist with tool repair, refurbishment and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate tooling records, drawings and revision control documentation.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing departments as required.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, quality procedures and best engineering practices.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, Environmental and Company policies.
  • Keep work areas safe, organised and maintained to a high standard.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, Toolmaking, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of engineering and product drawings.
  • Strong CAD/CAM experience within a tooling or manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of CNC milling, turning and grinding processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good planning and organisational abilities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Proven experience within a tooling, toolmaking or precision engineering environment.
  • Experience designing mould tooling and associated components.
  • Proven experience using SolidWorks and NCG CAM software or equivalent CAD/CAM systems.
  • Good understanding of machining and manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience supporting tooling manufacture from design, through to production.
  • Remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Be adaptable and responsive to changing business demands.
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive approach to work.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues across the business.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Knowledge of plastic processing techniques, including injection and blow moulding.
  • Experience of mould repair and tooling modifications.
  • Understanding of CNC programming and machining strategies.
  • Experience working within an ISO-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Project management or tooling development experience.
  • CAD/CAM related qualifications or certifications.
  • Further qualifications in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
